Mr. Jerry Haywood

Mr. Jerry Haywood passed away on February 26, 2022 at the age of 71. He was born November 11, 1950 to the late William Alton Haywood and the late Mattie Francis Roberts Haywood. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Hopper Haywood; one daughter, Mindy Haywood Smarsh (Chad); one son, Jeremy Wayne Haywood (Amy); his grandchildren, Andrew Haywood (Sarah), Courtney Haywood Logan (Bryan), Allison Smarsh (Cainan), Chloe Smarsh, and Amber Smarsh; three great grandsons, Noah Logan, Easton Haywood, and Braxton Haywood; one sister, Edith Haywood Brackeen; and her family, Colin Brackeen (Tricia), Simone, Essie, and Flynn and Kevin Brackeen (Maria), Connor, and Luke. Jerry’s career was as a master electrician and a self-employed construction worker after his retirement in 2013. Jerry was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, and he loved camping with his son Jeremy, grandson Andrew, and son-in-law, Chad. Jerry and Jeremy were fortunate to go to New York on a bear hunt, which was the talking point of lots of campfire chatter. Jerry loved his wife and family and had numerous cherished friends. Jerry’s hunting family included the late Max Scates, Shannon Douglas, Dana Scates, Richard Scates, and Randy Scates. Jerry spent his last year of his life spending as much time as possible with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Funeral and burial services will be at 2 PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Union Hill Baptist Church, where Jerry was a loyal member. Pafford Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
