Mrs. Tommie Mitchell Presley

Funeral services for Tommie Mitchell Presley, age 88, will be Wednesday, January 8, at 1:30 pm at Pafford Funeral Home Chapel in Scotts Hill, TN with Rev. Danny Adkisson officiating. Burial will follow in Scotts Hill Methodist Cemetery. Mrs. Presley died Monday, January 06, 2003 following an extended illness. Mrs. Presley was born October 24, 1914 in Henderson County. She was the daughter of the late Ector and Arbie Turner Mitchell. Her husband of fifty-seven years was Cecil C. Presley, whom she married on November 11, 1933. Mr. Presley preceded her in death on April 18, 1990. They made their home for many years on Presley Ridge Road in Decatur County. After retirement they made their home in Scotts Hill on Peace Chapel Road, where she remained until her death. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. She taught a Sunday School Class and was an active member of her community Home Demonstration Club in her younger years. She was a member of the Tennessee Farm Bureau. It was always her feelings that her life was enriched by family, friends, neighbors, and the farm business that she and her husband shared during the years. Also preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, were two sisters, Jewell Bright Coble and Vernell Chumney Crawford: and a brother, Turner Ector Mitchell. She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Gail Stanfill and her husband, J. Wayne Stanfill of Scotts Hill, TN and Glenda Sharon Moore and her husband Don Edwin Moore of Parsons, TN: two grandsons, Derek Presley Moore and his wife, Bethany Eubank Moore of Decaturville, TN: and Chadwick W. Stanfill of Nashville, TN; two great grandsons, Clint Mitchell Moore and Clay Edward Moore of Decaturville, TN; two sisters, Edna Mitchell Smith of Columbia, TN and Elna Mitchell Brewington of Nashville, TN. Mrs. Presley also is survived by four nephews, John Mitchell Smith, Charles Turner Mitchell, Christopher Ector Mitchell, and Tom N. Brewington; two nieces, Dorothy Bright Day and Brenda Brewington Norville. Pallbearers to serve will be her grandsons, Derek Prelsey Moore and Chadwick W. Stanfill, sons-in-law, J. Wayne Stanfill and Don E. Moore, Gordon Scott and Bill Austin. The family would like to acknowledge the care and concern given to Mrs. Presley by Elaine O’Neal Hill, Martha Sue Wilson, Carmie Downer, and Dr. Ramesh K. Reddy. Visitation wil be 1:00pm til 9:00pm on Tuesday, January 7 and on Wednesday, January 8, 9:00am til time of service.
